It is quite evident that African Americans have had a rather complicated history, from the inception of Africans in America to the stripping of their religion, customs values, and cultural identity through the institution of slavery. There servitude, many Africans were forced, physically and psychologically, into submitting to the belief that they were less than White Europeans who have colonized in America. Some enslaved Africans were further brainwashed by their oppressors into believing that the lighter one’s skin tone, the better that individual should be treated. Black history is the learning African American’s history, accomplishments, and culture. Many people in the black community were enslaved, abused, and animalize throughout American history. The black community has promoted black history as a way of overcoming harsh treatments, and to inspire many young African American children to help the black community. However, we still are experiencing the mistreatment that our ancestor went through. During the Colonial Times Africans and indentured servant were taken to the American colonies to work for the higher-class people for a cheap price, and even for free. “By the turn of the 18th century, African Americans made up about 10 % of the population and while some were brought from Africa, many came from the West Indies, were brought to the colonies as slaves from plantations in the Caribbean, or increasingly were born in the colonies” (Black History). African American was not treated as indentured servants, which is a person who is signed to work for another for a long amount time or whatever time they were sentenced as a payment, as an alternative, they were slaves for the rest of their lives, their children are born into slavery, and they have no hope of gaining their
