The right for African Americans to vote was not that easy to get to as they had difficulty in getting to vote.They did as much as they can,during the 1960’s African Americans were not allowed to vote because of racial discrimination and violence which also gave a lack of education and opportunities by white Americans, however with the voting right campaign in 1964 the Civil Rights Movement fought to change this.
The discrimination and violence was worst for African Americans as they go through racism. Most racism was on African Americans as they were treated very poorly from white americans . In 1950’s they had schools separated for white Americans and African Americans. Schools in this time for African Americans was very limited to them most schools for them were in the southern. In the 1950’s they only had these schools for “colored” students Dunbar high school in Washington D.C, Dudley high school in Greensboro north Carolina, Paul Laurence Dunbar Junior and Senior high school in Little Rock Arkansas. When white americans had lots more schooling and way better opportunity. In (history.com) tells us that “having African American students in their classrooms makes them not wanting to learn and that has to tendency to retard the educational and mental development of “negro” children”. White americans believe that African Americans should not be voting because they are second class. That is what they say as in the amendments numbers 13, 14, 15 as they say amendment 13 “Abolished slavery”, amendment 14 “Grants everyone equal protection under the law, no matter the race, religion, color or ethnicity we are equally protected by the law “ amendment 15 “voting rights cannot be deprived to any person based on race, color or former status as a slave”. Even with these White Americans still try to get African Americans with poll taxes. Poll taxes are a tax fee you have to pay to be able to participate in the voting. Also registration payment of poll roll tax was a prerequisite to the registration for voting in a number of stutes until 1966. Even with registration they charge the African Americans to do so. Also in the southern they had way more African Americans registered then the white Americans. Thanks to John F. Kennedy for fighting the case to get African Americans to be participating elections. When it got pass so much white Americans started to dislike Mr. Kenny for passing that law and some say then led up to his death for Mr.
