History relates to today because each major event that has and may occur in today's society becomes a new chapter in history. We learn from our past with the help of some of the most important events that have occurred and has shaped the present into what it is today. For instance the influence of the Age of Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution and World War I. The Age of Enlightenment was a period of the time where people began to think for themselves. The Enlightenment gave way to a revolution that promoted new ideas and values concerning economic and political debates. During the Enlightenment Ideas spread like wildfire due to the Encyclopedia, which were writings from the great thinkers of the time collected by Denis Diderot. The Industrial Revolution has contributed tremendously to today's society. During the Industrial Revolution new inventions such as the Spinning Jenny and Water-frame in order to speed up production in the textile industry. The Industrial Revolution also created new ways of transportation of products and people, by building turnpikes, canals, better harbors and also by using Steam Locomotives and Steamships. Most of the inventions there were created during the Industrial Revolution are still in use until this day. Those inventions have just been improved with state of the art technology.
