The industrial revolution established the foundation for the modern era of development. The industrial revolution led to a major shift in work patterns; jobs moved to offices and factories. In addition, many new technologies were developed including coal mining, and steam. The greatest impact however, was the creation of a market economy and mass production.
The market economy led to greater competition and investments. This allowed local companies to compete, and earn a profit. For example, it allowed factory owners and transportation systems to be privately owned. This opened many opportunities for fair trade, and business advancements where investors can invest their money in projects and earn even more money.
