Aging of study Question 1 Before knowing the aim of the aging study, we need to know about the reason of aging itself. The whole world is experiencing an unprecedented population transition. The older people who are more than 65 will make up a large part in the whole population of the world. Just like Nancy Shute says in his A Study for the Ages, that on average, Americans say that the age 64 will be the shed of middle age and old age. According to the “Datagram”, in 1900, people aged 65 and older accounted for about4% of the U.S. population. In 2011, they accounted for13.1%. With the rapid increasing of the oldest-old population and the appearing of a series of aging problems, many studies have been explored by modern people. They want to know the ways to keep longer life. In another words, what is promoting the length of their lives? Through the study on aging, we can know that the life expectancy is also referred to economical conditions of oldest –old. If they are poor, they will have a lower life expectancy that those same age people who are rich. American society is a complex society, the growth of the oldest-old have already raised plenty of social problems, which request the whole society to provide advanced medical care and social service. To some degree, this is an alarm for the government and the every individuals of the world. For these oldest-old, they need special care and attention because of the age.
