It has been 15 weeks since we started this class. Now the course is about to end. Throughout these 15 weeks, I learned and enjoyed enlightening moments in dwelling into the aging field of profession. I now have a better understanding of organizations and professionals working for aging population. Hearing from the guest speakers and visiting different places, the variety of opportunities in the aging field always surprised me. As always, yesterday’s class was different and interesting. It was great to hear from Aaron. He had a range of experiences, interesting career paths and motivating message for us. One of the most memorable messages was, in the field of aging its not only about long-term care and research, there a lot of ways we can make the impact in our aging society and we can do that. We can utilize our knowledge, expertise and degree in various ways. I enjoyed his presentation, the discussion about his work and experience, and AARP. When I was at AARP, I was working at the non-profit side. I did not get much time and opportunity to know about its for-profit entity (AARP Services Inc.). I really enjoyed reading article “A nurse goes shopping for a continuing care retirement community.” I think the highlights of the selection process mentioned in the article will be helpful for anyone, who is thinking about choosing CCRC. In the class, I also enjoyed hearing everyone’s recommendations. I believe we all did a great job. It was striking for me when Dr. Abbott mentioned, no one pay for you to speak good words for them. They want to know where they can improve and how they can improve, and they will appreciate your feedback even it is harsh. I am happy that through this course, I am learning a lot of skills that I need when I enter or plan to enter into the professional
