WALL-E Environmental Essay
“Almost half of the U.S population lives in areas where pollution levels are often dangerously high for them to breathe,”- American Lung Association. The Massachusetts institute of technology shows that 200,000 early deaths each year in the U.S.A. are caused by pollution. In Wall-E by the time it’s the year 2105 earth becomes so covered in garbage and pollution that without special gear, it was no longer habitable. This forced humans to leave earth until it was safe to return. In real life pollution is already having an impact on ecosystems, animals, and humans. In Some parts of north america, air pollution is so high that if you breathe the air for a period of time it can cause severe damage and sometimes death. In the U.S air pollution causes as much as 50,000 deaths per year. For example, currently in Spokane the AQI can problems for people with lung problems. In Fresno and Madera the pollution over time can increase the risk of asthma, heart disease, COPD(Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), and diabetes. Even in most urban areas the amount of air pollution increases the chance of getting strokes, heart disease, lung cancer, and chronic/acute respiratory diseases. Based on a list from Sustainability for all, the top five countries that produce the most pollution are China, the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, and Japan.
