In the article “A tragic ending to a horrible drama: Convicted of murders as a teen, he killed himself in prison” by Kristine Guerra, the author explains the tragedy of the self-induced hanging of Alec Kreider nearly 10 years after his murderous rampage on the Haines family. Old reports say the Kreider killed his best friend, Thomas Haines, and the boy’s parents, Lisa and Kevin Haines, in 2007 on the twelfth of May, for reason to never be known. Alec Kreider was about 16-years-old when he committed the crime and no one could understand why as, while a bit withdrawn, had several close friends and a good school record. His journal, the author states, held different story. Kreider wrote of urges to kill and of great anger towards those who gave out and enforces restrictions and regulations. He wrote entries about his many thoughts toward suicide and questioned God’s control over him. On January 20th, Alec Kreider was found dead in his cell, hanging. Nearly a decade ago, reports claim that Kreicher went to the Haines’ house with several knives in the early morning, simply walking in as the family, like many others in their small neighborhood, did not lock their doors. The author explains that investigation files stated Kreider attacked the parents, Lisa and Kevin, first before going after his best friend, Thomas. I would have never expected to read something even remotely similar to the events explained in this rollercoaster of an article, but not surprised, which saddens me to say. I will never understand how someone, much less a teenager, can commit such a felony without remorse. I pray for the families who are being forced back into the media as past occurrences are once again brought into the light and hope that they will soon find
