Alexander Hamilton may have been one of our founding fathers, but he was actually born in the West Indes on the island of Nevis. Hamilton’s exact birthdate is unknown. He was born on either January 11, 1755 or January 11, 1757. As a young boy, Hamilton was educated by his mother on the island of St. Croix. You may have visited St. Croix if you have ever been on a cruise in the Caribbean. Hamilton got his first job working as clerk in a store on the island when he was 12. Hamilton wanted to move to the English colonies so that he could further his education. In 1773, Hamilton finally moved to the English colonies.
