In addition, Alexander the Great points out that even if the followers are weak, like an army of sheep, the right leader, the lion, can accomplish anything. Macbeth is not a play about two different armies, but a play about two different kings. Neither leader fares well, but it is clear from this piece of literature that authoritative leadership is more effective than collaborative leadership. That is incorrect, as some cases of authoritative leadership led to the abuse of power, and only those are pointed out. But, in reality, there have been far more cases of successful authoritative leaders than unsuccessful ones. Also, any leader can abuse power, whether it is a collaborative or authoritative leadership. For example, one might use Macbeth to prove that authoritative leaders abuse power, but Macbeth himself was a terrible man, and this happened before he entered the castle. Macbeth says, “The prince of Cumberland! That is a step On which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, For in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires (Source A).” This is an example of how Macbeth was crazy before becoming a leader, as Macbeth let the ambition of becoming king due to the witches’ predictions penetrate the decisions made by Macbeth. Macbeth was not an authoritative leader who failed, Macbeth was an insane madman, who happened to take the throne and look like an authoritative leader. In addition, as soon as Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, Trump was made an authoritative leader. Without setting foot in the office, people were already trying to destroy the man and change the presidency. Trump has done nothing yet to prove his existence as an authoritative leader, and if that is the path Trump goes down, there is still the possibility that Trump becomes a successful authoritative leader.
