After reading a bit about Alice Walker, I found some interesting information about this woman. In a way, Alice Walker reminds me of her character, Maggie, in the story "Everyday Use". When she was young, she had a BB shot in her eye, causing her to felt embrassed and shy because of the scar created just like Maggie did when Maggie was burned in the house fire. What I truly admire about Alice Walker is that she was an activist in the things many things including: civil rights, politics, and women's rights. I even found Alice Walker's background history interesting. She grew up in a time where there were still segregated schools, and she became valedictorian in high school.
