The horrors of World War I are shown in many media sources. From books to movies, World War I has been a big influence. One movie that does a significant job at depicting the war is, All Quiet On The Western Front. This movie follows the story of a German soldier named Paul Bäumer who unfortunately experiences the worst of the war. What the movie does a great job with showing is how the war itself caused the Roaring 20's, which was a time of great economic prosperity in the Western world. This issue is not the main point of the movie but when the connections are made, they ties to the Roaring 20's and the acts of World War I depicted in the movie are clear. Topics such as the cause of the economic growth, the countries experiencing a change of mind in their population, and how women began to get involved in working, and in society are eluded to indirectly by the movie. Europe experienced big losses in men, property, and even money as a result of the war. Paul Bäumer's story shows these losses through the dwindling numbers of men from every battle, and the loss of property, for example the graveyard which was completely destroy due to the battle. Many men like Paul Bäumer wished the war would be over, but deep down thought it would never end. Once the war ended, or in Paul's case, when he died, everyone experienced a sense of relief, and for many the following years were those of good times. These good times lead to the Roaring 20's, especially in the United States, where the country experienced a win, and as a result a lot of workers felt better about their lives and worked
