Title
The philosopher Plato wrote the Allegory of the Cave in a form of dialogues with Socrates as the main speaker. An allegory is a story with a message or a deeper meaning. The Allegory of the Cave is about a strange cave prison with all people trapped in the dark cave. In this cave, the people don’t know anything from the outside world. They believe that where they are, the cave, is the only reality. Everyone since childhood has been in the cave. When analyzing the allegory there are five main stages. Stage I is the setting, stage II is turning, stage III is ascending, stage IV is arriving, and lastly stage V is returning.

It continues the story where the prisoner is seeing himself for the first time through the sun. He is seeing himself in the reflection of the water. The prisoner will once again question his own existence. Recalling the cave and understanding the strange prison. Looking back on how he views the cave and all of its mysteries. Majority of this section is giving different ‘what if’ scenarios. I spent weeks in denial over the fact that being sexually harassed could happen to me. I know a lot of friends who have been assaulted way worse than me. I had to learn my feelings were valid and to accept what had happened. I decided to continue to look into the clear world and not go back into the cave of ignorance. I believe this experience has made me stronger in a way. To not downplay the achievement, I made in accepting this part of my past. The experience also made me understand myself more. Like why I am the way I am. I do believe entering a relationship helped me achieve more clarity. Though I do not look at myself as a victim, even though I did not enable those people to do that to me. It is a part of me and my past.
The allegory of the cave is an amazing story that I will definitely continue to read. I think this story will help me in the future with some other realizations. The allegory is truly a testament to how timeless philosophy is and how it can be applied to everyone. Also, that it can be interpretated in various ways that may not be considered wrong. Everyone reviews life differently. Different ways to cope, different experiences all together. But we have passages like this that connect us all through feelings.
