Have you been hearing about the local gator attacks lately? Are you scared of being attacked by a gator? I have a solution for you! There have been several attacks in the southern region of the United States. People have hunted alligators to almost extinction and they bounced back, now egg collecting and hunting is allowed. Alligators should be hunted for various reasons. Alligators and humans are not on good terms. This is from many recent and earlier attacks or strange sightings. Over the years alligators have posed a threat to humans in many cases. It’s really rare for an alligator to kill someone (Hogenboom). Alligators attack people, but they have a low attack rate/count (Hogenboom). Alligators are overpopulated in some places in the United States. People say alligators show up in their back yards, at the beaches, and other places they should not be. When they take their space alligators become very territorial over it. Alligator hunters make hundreds of dollars in a public hunt with some pocket change (Gillis). This pay is determined on the quality of the gators skin and size of it. Some people make living by selling there meat (Gillis). Like in Louisiana were there are so many alligators that most families hunt and sell to survive (Gillis). From 2002 to 2011the hunting population went from 2,000 to 8,000(Gillis). Popular shows like gator boys and swamp people helped make this population. The more hunters they have the more demand for gator meat and hide. Alligator skins can be used for making hand bags, belts, and boots. Alligator skins are used in lots of ways probably making them very high in price. Also many restaurants like to buy gator meat and sell it at their restaurant. To get these resources this result in hunting and killing the alligator and some people will disagree with
