In order to become a more democratic country, the constitution was written by wealthy elites that sought fit to regulate the government by having three branches of government that included the executive, judicial, and legislative branches. The Articles of confederation also included the right of the government to tax, and to regulate commerce. With the articles on mind the country was ready to become more independent in 1787.
