Along for the Ride

“You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.” said Jim Rohn. In the fiction novel Along For the Ride, set in the small beach town of Colby, the main character Auden West witnessed many people who were close to her change themselves. Through an extravagant series of events, Aduen was able to see her parents and her newly formed friends change. Along with the changes occurring, they also developed new outlooks on life creating a different feeling about the varieties of situations. Next time someone states they won't change, understand that people change with time.

During the beginning of the book Aduen was proficiently aggravated by her stepmother, Heidi. With the time spent with her over the summer, Auden was able to overlook the traits in which bothered her. By Auden overlooking the traits, she was able to consider the look of life Heidi had portrayed. By this action, Auden inherited the ability to look at the situations that caused her pain and doubt and find the light in the dark. Besides that, Auden also was able to forgive those who had done wrong to her and accept the little mistakes that occurred. By Auden undergoing these changes, she was able to greatly improve her way or reacting to situations, and also her mood throughout the story.
Auden’s mother began as an unaccepting woman, who couldn’t accept people's decisions unless it was an action or belief in which she shared the same opinion on or would also choose to act upon the action as well. Plus if you thought people change, she would have issues with you. The morning of her graduation Auden walked into the kitchen accompanying her tall black haired mom.
