Ambition In Fifth Business

Power is the greatest thing in this world. It give people joy and a sense of security but when power turns to greedy and above everything else it will lead you to destruction. People who place power and personal ambition above everything else shares common nature. They will be successful in their lifetime because all they do is focus on their personal goal, they will care less about the impact on others by their action, and they will do anything to propel them forward in social ranks and to prevent anyone who try to drag them down from their social ranks. These common nature is showed in two different genre book. Speculative fiction, Fifth Business by Robertson Davies and tragedy play Hamlet by william shakespeare.

This shows Percy is blinded to his action and do what he wants without thinking in his head first humiliating people while he have no conscience about it. King Claudius act in the same way as Percy. Claudius is attracted by the crown and the queen which leads him to the murder of King Hamlet. Claudius murdered his brother to obtain power and queen. In 1.2 King Claudius gives speech addressing his brother’s death and the war potential in Denmark without sign of guilt and recognize what he have done to obtain this power.
