I am currently reading the book, Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight, and I am on page 201. A lot of very interesting events have happened in the last few chapters; I don’t even know where to start. I am going to be questioning, predicting and visualizing. To start off, Amelia continues to see the Magpies and go to all the meetings.

In the short story "Birthday Party" by Katherine Brush, she uses literary devices; such as imagery and tone to achieve her purpose of the story. Her purpose of the story is to highlight the disappointment out of an event that's expected to cause a good feelings at the end. She starts off by including imagery in the first paragraph to demonstrate the positive image. She states, "they sat on the banquette opposite us in a little narrow restaurant, having dinner. The man had a round, self-satisfied face, with glasses on it; the woman was fadingly pretty, in a big hat," to place an image of how it looks, which is a positive image.
I am reading Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight and I am on page 168. This book is about a top student who gets suspended one day. Her mom is shocked as she is never in trouble, but comes to pick her up and finds her beloved daughter dead. In this journal I will be questioning and predicting. One question would be why was she on the roof and how did she fall from the roof?
In 1900 Jane killed her friend Myra Conners with strychnine and took over her job as a matron at The Theological School. Amelia Phinney is one of Jane’s victims who lived to tell the tale. She claimed that Jane drugged her then climbed in bed with her and kissed her all over her face as she slipped out of consciousness. Luckily Jane was interrupted and left the room. Amelia regained consciousness in the morning and she thought that it was all a dream but she checked out of the hospital anyway.

She was the church pianist and daughter to Hamburg 's wealthiest citizens. Her father married her for her money and to give the children a mother. This new development proves Alexandra’s maturity even further. She had already had a stressful afternoon between preparing for the woman’s tea, sitting through Miss Merriweather’s thoughtless comments, finally she found out about Tom’s death. For many, this would push them over the edge, but Alexandra managed to stay calm and showed no hesitance in doing her duty. Even though Alexandra had showed animosity towards Tom and all other colored people, she felt remorse after his death. Not only because of her own feelings, but also because she understood how this would impact her brother, Atticus. She knew how Atticus felt about how whites treated blacks, as well as how this would affect him.
There are so many colleges that I would have attended. Community College is a two-year college. A community college is basically the introduction of a four-year college. I picked this college over a four-year college because, I was not ready to attend a real college and, this college can help me prepare to the future college. There are three main reasons that I chose a community college over a larger college.
Essie Davis, the actress who plays Amelia, took this scene to another level with the way she was able to change her body language at the right times. The moments she needed to show the venerability of Amelia she or the evil of the Babadook she did. When she had to switch between the two personalities not only did she change the dialogue, but she also changed her entire energy she was giving in the
As a child, I was obsessed with space. I constantly asked questions about it, and when one was answered, I asked another. I remember my first time watching the space shuttle launch. After a second, I realized that the orange fireball shooting upwards was the shuttle itself. Since then, I have longed to work on something so amazing with a team that is able to accomplish so much.

In “Birthday Party,” Katharine Brush’s purpose for writing the short story was to reveal how something that is good can go so wrong. She also demonstrates how some things are not what they seem. Especially in the situation that she wrote. Her purpose from the beginning to end is demonstrated by the use of literary devices. Brush begins by describing the scenario, she states, “They sat on the banquette opposite us.”
Sometimes the things we do for others don’t always go as planned. That was the case for the innocent wife in “Birthday Party” by Katharine Brush, as what was thought to be a nice gesture by the wife, was viewed as a crime by her husband. This small event can be an indicator of a crumbling relationship, and through literary devices such as diction and shifts to portray this deeper meaning. The harsh adjectives used throughout this piece paint a story much darker than simple botched celebration.
