The American Dream is an idea of achieving equality for all people which allows people to reach their highest goals. Since the creation of the American Dream, the idea has fallen off of its rails and now most people can’t even achieve the idea of this “American Dream.” Based on the American Dream, it seems surreal that it was more attainable when it was first created back in the year of 1931. The American Dream has become increasingly unattainable for a significant portion of the population due to Systematic Barriers and Socioeconomic Inequality.

The gap is huge and still growing between rich and poor people, this is known as Economic Inequality. There are too many poor people and too many rich people and not many people in the middle. This is important because there is not enough money circulating in the economy, thus making the American Dream almost impossible. Economic Inequality can demotivate people trying to attain the American Dream. There are too many obstacles/barriers for people to attain the American Dream. According to johnhancock.com, there are four Systematic Barriers blocking people from The American Dream. These four systematic barriers are Debt, Retirement, Stress Levels, and Work-Life Balance. Around 46% of Americans feel that debt is holding them back, around 75% of Americans don't have enough savings for retirement, around 46% of Americans say their stress levels limit achieving success, and around 65% of Americans are dissatisfied with their work-life balance. These people can’t achieve the American Dream because they aren’t making as much money as they want and/or need. Imagine you’re in this position, what do you do?
