Audience. This overlooked, yet powerful word affiliates with screenplays, books, essays, etc. In our English language, the denotative aspect of an audience can be defined as an assembled spectators or listeners at an event. Within these similar lines, my own personal connotation about an audience emerges. To me, an audience can simply be best described as intended individuals who provokes one’s desire to write or perform. In the play, La Negra, written by Raquel Almazan, the protagonist does a fantastic job at intriguing and conveying its message to her intended audience. In the opening scene, the protagonist opens up the play with a powerful statement which sets the tone throughout the play. Within her monologues, you can identify how powerful
