Stella was the one that would light the match, since she was the oldest twin by 2.5 seconds, she had explained that she was more responsible than him. Yet, Regis didn’t think so, but would never voice this opinion to her. He didn’t want to spoil the moment, the moment of her happiness as she was in awe of the flames cascade into itself, with sparks of red and orange patterns that licked, ate, her matches into hungry dancing hands. She cries, dropping the match quickly on the tile floor. Regis is the first to take action as he is one that rushes her to the sink, and pours cold water over her scorching heated fingers. The match on the floor flickers and dies, leaving a black patched mark in its wake for their mother to find. Regis and Stella are ten years old, when they realize playing with matches is a dangerous thing. They watch hopelessly as their mother; place all their matches in a box at the top of a cupboard above the kitchen sink. Regis knows without looking that Stella is holding her right hand.
