All told, they performed for 270 nights in just over a year and a half” (49-50). These many long nights is what Gladwell says helped The Beatles to perfect their skills and their music. He then goes on to state that this opportunity they were given is what really caused them to become successful because without all this nights of long performances they wouldn't have moved from amateur status to pro status. Even though Hamburg gave The Beatles a great deal of time to perfect their skills, Gladwell fails to mention how people can shape and mold their own future. Gladwell strongly believes that without those 10,000 hours, Joy would still remain an amateur in his profession. Also, Gladwell explains how the Beatles successfully reached to the top. They mastered their skills when they traveled to Hamburg five times between 1960 and 1962, playing for more than 5 hours a night for at least 200 nights. They learned stamina over the years and by 1964, they had performed live an estimated 12 hundred times in times, which most bands don't even get to perform that amount in their entire careers. Their 10,000 hours of practice aided them in becoming famous and legends.
Two of the biggest groups to separate themselves from the other bands of the 1960s were the Beach Boys and the Beatles. Each had their own style of rock ’n’ roll and their own way of creating new music. The Beatles had a very British pop style at the start, which morphed into their unique style of music as they blended and mixed it with different kinds of “world music.” The band worked together to write and develop their style, which was different from the Beach Boys “whose creative center was unquestionably one member of the group” (Starr & Waterman, 305) Brian Wilson. Through Wilson, the Beach Boys developed a surfin’ style of rock ’n’ roll and like the Beatles, Wilson liked to experiment with different instruments and effects to change their sound.
The Monkees followed the everyday lives and problems of four friends who had a band together. The show featured a band that had not previously existed, but one that was created purely for the purpose of the show. As explained before, because of this, three out of four boys who acted in the show had no musical background or experience (Pendergast and Pendergast 854). After the show was launched in 1966, The Monkees began producing music and touring as an actual band (Pendergast and Pendergast 854). The success found in the show led to the success of Monkees music recording.

Many of these bands started out covering American songs and showcasing an American Rock and R&B influence in their music. One of the ways to appeal to a very young audience was to meet them on their level and so they approved the production of a weekly animated series that would feature their music. The 1990’s was arguably the greatest decade for the music scene. This decade encountered the rise of the best musical artists and bands of all time. The music from this time was highly thought of because most bands were bringing back the rock and roll sound everyone loved from the late 60’s and 70’s. The band that really brought this sound back for generations to come was Nirvana. The band Nirvana wasn 't just considered to be rock and roll, their music could fall under several off branches of rock and that 's what made them the best.

John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England. He met Paul McCartney in 1957 and invited McCartney to join his music group. Famed singer-songwriter John Lennon founded the Beatles, a band that impacted the popular music scene like no other before. They eventually formed the most successful songwriting partnership in musical history. Lennon left the Beatles in 1969 and later released albums with his wife, Yoko Ono, among others.
It all started in Liverpool in 1960 when four men came together to create the iconic band, The Beatles. The English rock band members consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They were able to create timeless music that still continues to influence artists even years after the end of the group’s time. They were so popular and admired by such a great abundance of people, the Stones were “Becoming too big to perform in clubs” (Schwartz 14). “By early 1964, the Rolling Stones went on a British tour. In June 1964, the band rolled into America to perform concerts and to record at Chess Studios in Chicago as well as the Hollywood RCA Studios, where they captured the vibrant, earthy sound they desired due to better acoustics” (Schwartz 14). Once in America, the Stones would start to produce some of their most prolific and famous songs that we know of today.
Since February of 1964 when the beatles showed their music to the souls of America, everyone was hooked. The Beatles transformed not just the United States form of music but the entire world’s perspective on Rock and Roll; by their attitudes, style and sound. John Lennon and Paul McCartney are very famous names that have come up in many different topics. These guys are the vocalists behind the Beatles. Janis Joplin was one of the first woman rock singer who used blues to inspire her music and put her on the same playing field as men in the 60s. The Beatles had many influences of music, including Bob Dylan's music, but they also created their own unique music that was different from song to song. In "A Day in the Life", The Beatles created a crazy dissonant sound that really hasn't been heard up until the 60s, that's actually quite creepy.
