Symbolic interactionism is labeled as a micro-sociological theory. The symbolic interactionist centers on how people treat each other grounded on external signals. An example of Symbolic interactionism theory would be if a man was wearing a 3-piece suit even before speaking to him, you will probably assume he 's someone that you should respect and treat him differently than someone that looks like a homeless person.
In society when someone sees a teen mom they usually perceive them as too young to be a mother. Immediately this teen mom would be treated differently or an assumptions would be made about her sense of responsibility and her opinions would be discredited, or morals questionable.
