"She a survivor, that one' Peeta says" In the novel ‘The Hunger Games' written by Suzanne Collins, the main theme shown is survival. Suzanne Collins has given us a connection to Katniss which is revealed through the three points which I will write about is Katniss from the reaping day until the last 60 seconds before the 74th Hunger Games, the relationship between Katniss and Rue and the last point is Peeta and Katniss's relationship.

As Katniss is an important character she has learned how to survive and how to hunt since she had to cope with the loss of her father in a coal mining accident. She has survived so much just for her family, without hunting her family would have been in a huge starvation problem. "I volunteer. I volunteer as tribute!". She knew that as soon as Prim's name was called out she knew that she wouldn't last in the arena. As this happened Gale, a friend of Katniss was stepping in to help Katniss go up on stage and Prim being lifted and turned around in the direction of her mother. She is in a "reality TV" where the capitol would have all the power in the arena. As Rue had a short alliance with Rue Katniss was still the provider and protector. Rue was the lost ally from District 11 and have a lost bond. As Katniss trying to help Rue in a way she would do for Prim or her mother, she is trying to do it in a safe way. Even if the games are for making sure that history will not repeat and that the victor will bath in riches. Most people in the games turn into unfeeling killers but Katniss and Rue had the feeling that if they killed someone the guilt would get to them. These ideas have been revealed by her qualities which is being the provider, protector, being a real ally for Rue who couldn't do
