This is a great quote it demonstrates how deep our minds can be. Life will come and bombarde everyone with thoughts of doubt or guilt. Everyone's job is to overcome that, people may not always be able to understand how serious a situation can be. One example is soldiers from war, specifically Vietnam War. “Approximately 58,000 Americans and more than 3 million Vietnamese “ This was a huge casualty for america, but this number was nothing compared to what the Vietnamese lost. No one will ever be able to comprehend how serious war was and is. Tim O’Brien did serve in the Vietnam War but his story Ambush is not a personal story from him. He told his your daughter, at age nine, he did not kill a man at war. This was false but he was not going to tell his daughter what he truly did. This was the first example of a surprise in Ambush, the question is asked, why would he do this? The words that he told his daughter were, “Of Course not, and then to take her onto my lap” He verbally reassured his daughter that she was in a safe environment. Then to make sure that she felt loved he picked her up and helped to inform her that life would be okay.
