All physical traits one finds attractive can be decoded to learn about the biology behind the trait. The length of an individual’s legs are not just beautiful to some. They serve a purpose. According to psychologist Nancy Etcoff, physical appearance is a demonstration of good health, and such indicators of good health include “the condition of hair and skin, movement of the body, and a form that is neither too round or too thin” (qtd. in Burke 75). Holding other factors as irrelevant (such as diet, health conditions etc.) and assuming an individual is that of an average body type and weight, and has no health inhibitors, long legs are not only attractive, but also increase likelihood of survival in case of danger. Longer legs imply a broader range of motion, and greater distance between steps, so greater distances can be covered as they run from danger. Of course this is …show more content…
