Dialogical Self Theory As conceptualized in the work of Hermans, Kempen, and Van Loon (1992) the theory of the dialogical self, places emphasis on the positioning of an individual on the dimensions of time and space, and their relations between these positions: The I has the possibility to move, as in a space, from one position to the other in accordance with changes in situation and time.
