This constant physical battle with death is also displayed in the poem when Thomas repeats phrases such as, “Do not go gentle into that good night” and “rage, rage against the dying of the light” (Thomas), alluding that the son is pleading for his father not to succumb to death and instead, fight for that last glimmer of hope. Both authors' linguistic choices display the prevailing theme that one must maintain faith, even in the harshest of times, and remind the reader of how precious life is. In Night, death feels inevitable. This constant feeling of death causes Elie’s father’s death to be understated, with Elie merely waking up to his father being gone. His father's death seems so insignificant because it simply ends a life that was already full of suffering
However by the third stanza, readers gain a sense of peace from the language used. For example “Floating maple leaf. ”(8) The language becomes soft and light as she describes scenes of what she sees during that one hour of peace. But again in stanzas four through five she

Book review 1: Similarities between the novel The Martian by Andy Weir and the poem Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas The Martian and Do not go gentle into that good night are both pieces of literature I have discovered through my passion for science and film. The Martian interested me as it was book about using science to survive on Mars. Do not go gentle into that good night is a poem used as a motif for surviving extinction in the film Interstellar, starring Matthew McConaughey. The first similarity between these two pieces of literature is the desperate attempt at survivial in extreme adversity.
The next stanzas have a different meaning. “Morn that come to fill, Fill a new sense, Sense in calm will, Will that floods tense”. He is saying that if you work and take action, you will be rewarded, as
If they speak, they’ll die, If they choose to remain silent, they’ll die because no matter what, they’ll die. Ensuring they’re not meant to live. Subsequently, in stanza three, it is preferable to speak out and fight their oppression. If those minority groups are going to face fear no matter the outcome, they have nothing to lose by breaking their solitude. In actuality, they may have something to
In Metamorphosis, Mrs. Samsa appears a few times but never grows throughout the text, making her a flat character. Gregor’s mother is the average concerned mother and doesn’t have the strength to see her son. Every time she gets a glimpse of her son, she drops to the floor and faints. There is one time where she viewed Gregor and didn’t pass out: when she steps in to rescue Gregor from his father’s rage. Mrs. Samsa didn’t grow throughout the text; however, her behavior causes her husband to calm down and allows Gregor to live.
In the first three stanzas, the last word is accompanied by an end stop. These words are "gas", "despair" and "Wars", which are very morbid. This creates a falling tone which is serious, and creates a thoroughly negative feeling. Subsequently, the last three stanzas uses the words "armistice" , "smile" and "arms" which have extremely welcoming and good connotations, accompanied by an end stop. This creates a falling tone to which rises a strange bittersweet emotion because of the subtle hopeful tone.
The second stanza is strong reminders that while men pay more attention to the desires or their own mind, they fail to see their own failings in life. Only after their eyes became open would they seek help. A great representation of this is found starting in (21-22) where Jesus is alone, not called upon but forgotten, until the time in which mean realise they are downing and have no life vest to keep them afloat. An excellent example of this is (23-26) give reference to the only time that men would see their own demise is also the time in which they would seek help. Foolishly then thinking that even though they did not remember him till the end that they are still good men represented in the second refrain.
The speaker basically says if they cannot get their way, then they will not do anything at all. They state that they know that doing what they need to do and not doing it are not the same, but that “it’s the best I can do” (lines 7-8). If one is looking at the poem from a literal sense, then these lines can be taken to mean that the speaker is stubborn and stuck in a childish mindset.
In the poem “Do not go gentle into that good night,” the poet uses a metaphor to compare death as “night” and “dying of the light.” Dylan Thomas repeats the lines “Do not go gentle into that good night” and “Rage, rage against the dying of the light” in each stanza to emphasize that all men should not accept death, but fight it until their last breath. He describes four types of dying men before addressing his father. First, he states that intelligent men that know death is near and have not had any impact on society still fight to live: “though wise men at their end know dark is right, / Because their words had forked no lightning they / do not go gentle into the good night.” (Lines 4-6).

In the first stanza, we can already see how this poem can relate to the world today and how we feel about certain things. We as humans don't like change. Sometimes, we want something to happen so bad, that we don't consider how our life might change if this wish, this hope of something, actually happened.
