In the text “Why Kids Sext” by Hannah Rosin goes into detail why kids sext, what these kids are doing is wrong because it invades privacy, on how social media has a big part, harm that is being done by this, and the proper way to deal with this without making laws to lock kids up for making mistakes. This text was based on a school that had a huge problem with sexting. Photos of girls in this school were being posted on a porn site and on social media. When the parents found out there daughters were on this site they were very disappointed and wanted this shut down as soon as possible. These were smart straight A students that made a simple mistake.
In “The End of the Women’s college?” by Brian Burton, Burton engages the reader by positioning his thesis, “[a]s women continue to advance in society and the detrimental effects of gender discrimination continue to fade, women’s colleges will continue to decline in number and in purpose” (1). Burton’s thesis conveys the reader, believing that the decline in same-sex institutions for women will decrease for a good cause; therefore, it will provide better opportunities and exclude gender discrimination. In his essay “The twenty-first-century Campus: Where Are the Men?” which appears in Sociology, Macionis describes the very common gender discrimination that favored men a century ago. Men’s colleges were to be seen in a great majority, however, steadily in a few years women began to increase. The gender gap was evident in all cultural categories at all class levels. Later on women started to become fairly a great majority at colleges and a gender imbalance was created. Women usually dominated discussions at college as there were few men in class.
Jennifer Delahunty Britz’s article, “To All the Girls I’ve Rejected”, begins by explaining how her daughter was waitlisted at a college she was qualified to attend. Following this, Britz elucidates reasoning behind this, informing that colleges show bias towards male applicants. It soon becomes clear that many declined and waitlisted female applicants possess more capability than accepted males. In order to prevent this, admission committees should exercise a gender-blind admittance procedure. Britz, dean of admissions at Kenyon College argues that: “few of us…were as talented…at age 17 as this young woman.
Although race appears to be the source of these inequalities, it should be noted that other factors contribute as well. For instance, if a black child came from a high class family, he could afford to attend Morris High. Likewise, a white child from a low class family might only have the option of attending a school in East St. Louis. Through Kozol’s Savage Inequalities: Children in America’s Schools, it can be observed that children like those at Morris High are taught about racial inequalities, but are not taught to recognize white privilege. In addition, they seem to only be passionate about issues that have potential to benefit them personally.
This example that White provides does not match up to many schools out there. White providing examples like these where he mentions it only shine a positive light towards females certainly do not prove that altogether boys are being left behind. At Sir John A. Macdonald, the publicity around the school of females or males depends on what kind of activities are taking place every week. One week the girls hockey team might be the talk of the school simply because they happen to defeat another school compared to the boys volleyball team that might have lost to another school or vice versa. White openly admits that the schools are failing our boys, but since when did schools take on the ful responsibility of the school to educate these boys to fully teach them how to be proper boys ?

In this paper I will be discussing how Boys and Girls Clubs are used as a deterrence method to keep “at-risk” children off the streets. These programs are all across the country in inner cities and in rural areas. I will be using the Boys and Girls Club to look at its relationship with Social Disorganization theory. The Boys and Girls Club has been around since 1860, when three women decided to open their doors to underprivileged boys. They “believed that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative” (Boys & Girls Clubs of America).
Love tends to effect each character’s action differently. For example, love is what motivated the plot of the story “The Valley of Girls” by Kelly Link. For instance, the Olds observed society and performed actions to make sure their children are aligned with success. Love and social status is what makes these people relate, or correlate with each other; it reminds me of a government politically develop by love and society. In “The Valley of Girls” by Kelly Link, from Teenagers and Old are motivated by two specific motives, which are love and social status.
This is a perfect example of institutional racism where youth come from low- income families are place in environments to set to fail. On the other hand, youth that come from affluent families are given opportunities and resources where they are set to be successful in their education. In Rich's essay, I see that the idea of where you come from, or what is your ethnicity, does not matter; the only matter that I can see is that what have you learn from the years that you are in school. The majority of texts, lectures, studies, etc., they divided themselves into some specifics categories which show the deep diversity in schools and how they divide the equal to study between men and women. Education is important, equality in school should be considered to be important as well. Sexism in 1970s was an issues, even until modern day is still a big issues because many women do not have their right to go to school.
In Girl Rising (2013), reveals how gender discrimination negatively affects the future of many women and continues to be prominent in society through forced marriages, extreme poverty, and/or labor obstacle. Girl Rising (2013) reveals heartrending stories of nine girls from different countries to show how these girls overcome great obstacles to obtain an education and change their fate. Each of these girls was paired with a writer from their own country to help tell Soka story. Young girls that were faced extreme poverty, forced marriage, and forced labor (Robbin, 2013). Each story is written by a writer from the girl’s native country and is narrated by renowned actresses such as Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek, and Meryl Streep
Secondly, it is often argued that African Americans are necessary to get educational equality as whites. Base on the data from By Susan Berfield (2016), she revealed the fact that black students still do not receive an equal education in diverse schools. In her explanation, she gave an example about Fleming’s experience. Fleming lived with her husband and her three children. She decided to send her kids to elementary school in south Evanston.
Gender roles are present everywhere and are more and more prevalent the further back you go. They define relationships and heavily influence people's actions. Gender roles can hurt those that are trapped in them because they are not allowed the freedom of living like they want. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, one key relationship in the story is wrecked by gender roles.
