“I–love–you” is a bitter sweet phrase. It carries one thousand and one meanings to us as each individual have their own perspective on this subject because it is a manipulative phrase where everyone may decipher it differently from each other. In the article “I-LOVE-YOU” written by Robert Solomon, he gives his eye-opening insights about that phrase where he describes it as an action, demand, warning, and many other forms of “I-love-you”. Through the time that I have spent to read this article, I nod and connect his ideas about I-love-you with mine. After I have finished his article, I come to agree with all the ideas of Robert Solomon regarding this “magical phrase”, according to him in Paragraph 10. Among Robert Solomon’s diverse ideas about “I-love-you”, I strongly agree with his idea about this phrase being an action, not a word. Distinctly he has stated in Paragraph 2, ““I-love-you” is an action, not a word.”, and supported by his opinion, “And the meaning of “I-love-you” is to be found in what we do with it, not in what it tries to tell us.” in Paragraph 5. For me, when you want to say “I-love-you”, it must be shown in the action. Just merely speak out the phrase is vague and it can put the feeling of uncertainty to the other person’s heart because sentences can be transcribed and transformed according to Robert Solomon. The person who receives this phrase may infer it differently from the person who has said it. Therefore action is important as love is a verb
