I am reading Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs, and I am on page 200. This book is about A boy named Jacob, and his friend, Emma, and they are trying to rescue their friends who were captured by creatures called wights and hollowgasts. They are traveling throughout London, and they are facing danger and risking their own lives in the process. They need to rescue their friends before it is too late, and they are tortured or killed. In this paper I will be questioning and evaluating. I have two questions, why can Jacob talk to hollowgasts, and why can he talk to some hollowgasts better than others? One question I have is why can he talk to hollowgasts? I think that one possible answer is because it is a part of Jacob’s peculiarity. …show more content…
Because of this, it is possible that all peculiars who can sense and see hollowgasts can speak to them. Another possible explanation of why he can talk to hollowgasts is that it is a natural reaction when Jacob or his friends are in a dire situation. Jacob has only been able to talk to the hollowgasts when he or his friends are in a life or death situation. He cannot communicate with them unless he is being seriously threatened or his life is at risk. Even when he is in a dire situation, it does not always work. If he over thinks or tries to hard to talk to the hollowgasts it will not work. He is able to speak to them when he lets his body take control and makes him speak to them. These are a few reasons why I believe Jacob can talk to hollowgasts. Another question I have is why can he communicate with some hollowgasts better than others? I think that one possible reason is because he has spent more time with that specific hollowgast. The first hollowgast he was able to communicate with, he had spent a whole night next to it. The hollowgast was frozen in ice and he felt bad for it. He slept next to it, and he even put his hand on it. Because of this, Jacob and the hollowgast became …show more content…
Myron could have good motives or bad motives. One reason why he might have good motives is because he helped Jacob and Emma. He healed their injuries and made sure they were safe. He gave them fresh clothes, food, and water. Myron also gave Jacob and Emma information about their friends and jacob’s grandfather. Another reason why he might have good motives is because he has a good sister. His sister, Alma Peregrine, is an ymbryne. She happens to be Jacob and Emma’s ymbryne. This means she lives with them and keeps them safe. She is essentially a mother figure to them. Alma has the best intention for Jacob, Emma, and their friends. She always tries her best to protect them. Myron also has a brother, named Caul. Unlike Alma, Caul is despicable. Alma strongly disapproves of Caul and his actions, and she tries to stop him. These are a few reasons why Myron Bentham could have good motives. Myron Bentham might have bad intentions. One reason why is because he has a wretched brother. Myron used to be very close to his brother, Caul, who is a wight. The common goal of wights is to take over the peculiar world. Myron eventually became aware of everything Caul was trying to do. Caul made Myron become his prisoner and slave, and he attempted to get Myron to tell him valuable information. Myron knows a lot of information that wights do. He also knows important information they do not. He knows how the machines work that are needed to
