In the novel, ¨Of Mice and Men,¨ the author, John Steinbeck, develops complex characters which opens the story up for interpretation. Steinbeck uses both direct and indirect characterization, which forces the reader to infer important traits about each characters. An example of a character is Crooks, a colored man working on a ranch during the Great Depression. Being the only black man on the ranch, Crooks is often looked down on as a stable bunk, and is not respected as the other men are. Because of this, Crooks is perceived as powerless.
George from George Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” made the right decision of killing Lennie in the story, while other might disagree. George shot Lennie in the back of the head to save him from the suffering and humiliation from a mad and revengeful Curley. George did this not out of hate, but out of the love of their friendship. “George raised the gun and his hand shook, and he dropped his hand to the ground again” (Steinbeck). George is struggling to come to terms that he is going to shoot his best friend.
“Of Mice and Men” Performance Task I think that it is a good thing that George Killed Lennie because Lennie had been killing people and animals. But I think that John Steinbeck wrote the book “Of Mice and Men” because he wanted to show us/the reader how bad it was then and compare it to how bad we thought/think it is now. If we the reader(s) compare then to now we would see how bad it used to be and we think that our lives are bad but really there not that bad.
fiction " of mice and men". the story was talking about the relationship and the feeling's change surround george and lennie although at least the happen of some serious things cause george has to kill lennie. i still believe, there're a great friendship between lennie and george. to begin with, analysis all of the chapter of the book. As george's friend, lennie always is honest, pocile, and helpful to george.
Many people have been in Lennie and George’s position when it comes to tough situations just like when George is telling Slim about a situation, “ I was jus’ a little bit off, and I heard all the yellin’, so I comes running, an’ by that time Lennie’s so scared all he can think to do is jus’ hold on”(41) . George Milton and Lennie Smalls were friends that worked together. George was more of a babysitter for Lennie because he couldn’t do a lot of things on his own. Lennie ends up scaring a girl and they have to move to a different work ranch because of his mistakes. Then later on in the book Lennie kills the boss’s son,Curley, wife because he was touching er hair and she started to freak out, like what happened in Weed, and broke her neck.
I think Steinbeck had that as an original because something always happens in this book and it’s not always good. Well in this book the same bad thing happened twice, I think the title it has now has more meaning than the original. I also believe that the original would catch more attention because the readers will want to know what has happened. I think the original would have a different understanding because that reader is going to expect something very extreme has happened. I believe that John SteinBeck chose “Of Mice and Men” because it has more meaning to the book than the original.
Gradually as, Tom lives his life he see how his parents’ approval came with a cost. When Tom finally had it with himself for killing his sister by accident, he thought of committing suicide, but the thought of,” ….Liza’s disapproval. She could make anyone suffer if she disapproved” (Steinbeck 408). Just the thought of his mother reminds him of the days how his mother can disapprove of him causing him great pain. The same pain that it took him to get an approval from her is the pain that he has to face with the consequences of his actions.
The book, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, involves many pivotal relationships. Certain relationships demonstrate why they can be so important. The dynamics of all of the relationships prove such significant parts in the way the story flows. The most important relationship in this book is between George and Lennie. Their relationship is almost a domino effect for everything that happens.
Of Mice and Men was an excellent novel about two migrant workers traveling in Southern California, trying to make enough money to fulfill their dream of attaining their own plot of land. They have trouble accomplishing this goal when Lennie, the big and clueless on of the two, consistently makes mistakes, some of them being vital. The author, John Steinbeck, uses great techniques and literary devices that build up to the climax and resolution. Throughout the story, he describes how several characters all have/had dreams or goals, but none of them truly achieved those dreams. All of these literary devices, techniques, and the entire plot lead up to my thesis statement.
After reading this book, I found myself shocked, and almost in a daze. From beginning to near end, this book talked about George, Lennie, and then Candy saving up their money and buying a huge plot of land. However, all of their future plans were destroyed from the moment Curley’s wife let Lennie stroke her hair. It was in that moment that I could first foresee the horror of the events to come, and why this story is called, by some, tragic.
One day Lanie and her family were getting ready for the 12th of May, they were all scared and hoped that they wouldn't get chosen because their littlest was Jamey and she was 11. Then the day on the 12th of May Lanie, her family, and the rest of the community all have to line up to be counted. Lanie and all the people are scared because if the population of the community is over 400 then they will have to fight to death. The leaders of the community choose the youngest kids of four homes.
Have you ever thought about how a single action can set off a chain of events that ultimately determines the course of a story? In John Steinbeck's classic novel, "Of Mice and Men," this concept is shown through the character of Lennie. First, Lennie is the catalyst for the events of the novel; without Lennie's actions, the story would not exist in the same way. However, Lennie's importance goes deeper than his role as a catalyst. Lennie's inability to control his strength and impulses leads to disaster in the novel.
Before the novel begins, Lennie and George were fired from their old job because Lennie was touching a girl’s dress the same way he would pet a mouse. As the story progresses, the bus driver dropped them off four miles away from the ranch where their new job is located. While walking towards the ranch they find a spot to spend the night. This spot is in the middle of the woods where there is a river, wildlife, and trees everywhere. Compared to all the ranches and fields this feels like an ideal place to stay the night.
SETTING The book Of Mice and Men is set in two different places. It begins beside a stream, near to the Salinas River, which is a few miles south of Soledad, California. It then shifts over to a ranch, where the majority of the story is set. At the end of the novel, the setting comes back to where it began.
Chemical Conjunctivitis Chemical conjunctivitis is eye inflammation from exposure to an irritant or chemical substance. This causes the clear membrane that covers the white part of your eye and the inner surface of your eyelid (conjunctiva) to become inflamed. When the blood vessels in the conjunctiva are inflamed, the eye may become red, pink, and itchy. Chemical conjunctivitis can occur in one or both eyes. It cannot be passed from one person to another (noncontagious).
