In the story ‘’So I Ain’t No Good Girl” written by Sharon Flake a good realistic scene is set by the author that connects me when the situation is put into all of the characters actions. In my opinion I feel like the story isn’t enough because the author didn’t give enough information to the characters feelings and thoughts on how they felt or what they like to do and what they want to do. As Raheem starts staring at the good girls his girlfriend gets mad and that’s when the conflict starts. The scene is very realistic because in the story it says. “She was walking to the bus stop when she suddenly tripped over her own two feet.”
“SO I AINT NO GOOD GIRL” In this story “SO I AINT NO GOOD GIRL”, written by Sharon Flake, I felt that the author really made the characters realistic and normal.
Poverty is the extent to which an individual does without resources. These resources can be financial, emotional, mental, relational, knowledge of hidden rules, and spiritual. In order to for a person to leave poverty, it is necessary that the individual can be confronted and concern with his current state of life. Flannery O Connor gives us a good example of how poverty (or lack of resources) affects the humans’ decisions. In her story Parker´s Back, Flannery O Connor uses the theme of “poverty” by the description and mannerism of her characters, but also by using a casual-register story structure.
In the short story Eleven by Sandra Cisneros Rachel clemonstreats her multiple years of her eleven years old self two important times. One time Rachel asks less than is three because she has a sweet shirt that is not hers. She don't want the sweatshirt the sweatshirt is not her but she don't say anything. The teacher put on her deck and the teacher tell her to put it on.
War is not something that occurs in one’s life and goes away. It is something that leaves a permanent track on the people that undergo it, which can sometimes negatively alter the way someone acts. Louie Zamperini and Mutsuhiro Watanabe are examples of people who have been affected by the war, causing them to act differently them what they used to. In Unbroken, Laura Hillenbrand displays the true stories of soldiers, showing that war is an extreme event that can sometimes bring out the worst in people. Louie Zamperini is one example of how the war unfavorably affected how he acted.
Sigmund's Freud's theory is composed of four sexual stages that are necessary for the development of any individual. The stages include oral, anal, phallic, and genital. Freud believed through his highly controversial theory, that if one indeed fails to complete or skips over a sexual stage entirely it will reflect on the individual's adult personality and mental health/illness development. While both studying freud's theory and closely reading the novel She’s come undone by Wally Lamb the reader begins to notice that the protagonist Dolores's fractured persona and slight mental illness is a result of failing to complete a sexual stage, in her case it was stage one, the oral stage. In Wally Lambs’ novel “She's Come Undone”, the protagonist, Dolores Price, is stripped of her innocence from an adolescent age.
In the article “When Fans go wild” By: Jennifer Dignan they compare “BeetleMania” and “Bieber Fever together”. For example in the article “When Fans go wild” By: Jennifer Dignan the author states that there was at least 50 offices outside his hotel. “At least 50 officers were brought into control the crowd.” (Jennifer dognan). This relates Justin Beiber and the Beatles because they both had to have law enforcements to control their fans.
We are not our true selves. In fact, most of us don’t even realize this until much later in life when disaster strikes and we must face the harsh reality. We must face the harsh reality that for most of our life, we do not know who we are and we are not who we are meant to be. In reality, we are not the most-developed versions of our selves during times of joy and happiness. We are not our most-developed selves when everything seems to be falling into place and when all of our hard work is finally paying off.
Secrets They are something we all have, secrets that we keep locked away from the rest of the world. The real truth is that you never know the hidden battles that other people are fighting every single day while forcing a smile on the outside. “You never know what goes on behind closed doors”, Sue Monk Kid’s novel “The Secret Life of Bees” most definitely proves that well-known quote to be true. A novel in which the title itself carries the exact theme of the book, “The secret Life of Bees.”
In “Flying Over Water” the main character is awkward, which is another relatable aspect, and is going through puberty and doesn’t agree with her mother’s rules and opinions. She only wishes to swim away and be her own self. A story such as that relates to the awkward time of puberty and growing up, where you try to look for your own voice in a big world. Klages states that the stories in Portable Childhoods were “based on her mother-daughter relationship.” I maintain that because of this approach Klages stories are strong and lasting and are a great collection to
Literature plays the role of solutions in the examination of recurring societal issues. Once I read this book named awaken written by Katie Kacvinsky it was a book based on a dystopian society where everyone would communicate and do daily activities with technology. The world was like this because of terrorist attacks. They were happening more and more often and they were targeting schools, workplaces, social events, and etc.
She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb is a coming of age story that demonstrates heartbreak and severe struggles. When Dolores gets a television in her house, her life begins to fall apart. Her father isn’t a part of her life anymore, her mother is sent to a mental hospital and eventually dies, she’s raped, and is bullied at school. This is all very tough for Dolores and she eventually ends up in a mental hospital herself.
Parents are always supposed to look out for the best interests of their child. Anne Tyler authored the short story “Teenage Wasteland” which depicts the story of a strained mother and son relationship between the character Donny, and his mother Daisy. Donny is a teenage boy who is struggling with his grades at school and is exhibiting poor behavior. His mother, Daisy is concerned with her son’s grades and behavior, however, she fails at getting her son the help that he requires. Told through the point of view of the character Daisy, Tyler uses irony to tell the story of a teenage boy who is failed by the adults in his life who are supposed to help him flourish, including his parents, a psychologist, and his tutor.
Interviewing LaShonda Young was an eye opening experience. I’ve learned many things from this interview with LaShonda. I’ve learned that life maybe hard and throw you many obstacles you just have to get over them. One of LaShonda’s favorite motivational quotes is “Life is hard but its fair.” I interpret this quote as no one should stop life from accomplishing his or her dream.
Rainer Maria Rilke, author of “From Childhood,” and Alden Nowlan, author of “Mother and Son,” are both understanding of the fact that everyone has a mother—a woman from which each individual in existence was brought onto the earth. Through their literary works of art, their knowledge that the biological tie between mother and child is something that all human beings possess is evident, as well as their understanding that any further relationship past this biological connection is in the hands of each individual mother. “From Childhood” is an account of a mother and son rapport in which the mother is the driving force that stifles and smolders her child’s flame. “Mother and Son” delves into another relationship between mother and son, yet this
