On Writing, by Stephen King, is a memoir he discussing how his childhood and young adult life shaped the ideas and characters of his, and his tips and tricks to writing so many bestsellers. The first half of the novel touches of his life. I enjoyed this part of the story. Especially that he let readers into the most vulnerable and dark parts of his life. Yet he added his own humor to lift the book and take away the pity reader might have, because that is not the book he was trying to write. I feel that he wanted to show people that becoming a successful writer take a lot of hard work and energy, but that it is an achievable dream.
