In the article “Die Trying”, Katie J.M. Baker points out the difficulties of being a rape victim in Alabama and nationwide. The article “Die Trying” talks about a student named Megan Rondini who attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa who accused T.J. Bunn Jr. of rape. The events that led to sexual assault happened in July 1, 2015 at night where Megan Rondini went to Innisfree Irish Pub with a couple of her sorority sisters and drank five cups of beer. After drinking the beer Megan Rondini blacked out and found herself in T.J. Bunn’s car with his friend going back to his house.
The Duke lacrosse case implicated criminal actions of: first degree rape, first degree sex offenses’ and kidnapping charges against three Duke University lacrosse players; Collin Finnerty, Reade Seligman and Dean Evans (North Carolina State Bar v. Nifong, 2007,p.18-20). According to Mosteller (2007) the case started with “gang rape allegations” by Crystal Mangum, a black exotic dancer who was also a student at North Carolina Central University on the morning of March 14th, 2006 (p.1337). The alleged rape occurred during the Duke lacrosse teams’ party at 610 North Buchanan Blvd (North Carolina State Bar v. Nifong, 2007,p.1). Suspiciously Mangum could not make any identifications of her attackers even after viewing most Duke lacrosse team members including the names mentioned above and the lacrosse team members who actually lived at 610 North Buchanan Blvd (Mosteller, 2007, p.1407). In Steubenville, Ohio, a sixteen-year-old girl was attending a local high school party with her friends. The girl was more intoxicated than others and refused to go home after the party was shut down. She then joined a group of guys who were going to another party and when they get there, the girl was too drunk to remember anything else. Two of the boys that were with her were Trent Mays and Malik Richmond. Both of them were football players at Steubenville High School, which was a big deal in small town Steubenville.

Should the type of person, who raped a 14 year old girl for three years, be considered someone that the people of Oregon look up to? He does this in a very unique style by giving 12 sections explaining the incident from different points of view and the effects of a single crime. One person affected was Jill Agostino, the sports copy editor for Newsday. Her unnamed colleague had given her a copy of an article he was writing on Richie Parker and called asking if she liked it. Little did he know, stories like his were keeping her up at night, reminding her of the time she was raped nine years earlier.

The Joan Little case was about the abuse by police in a prison that lead Joan Little, a strong woman, to make a tough decision that would change her life. The bodies of a sixteen year old Leslie Arnold’s parents were found buried in their house’s backyard of Omaha, Nebraska after he confessed to the police about the killings. On September 27th, 1958, Leslie had into an argument with his parents over their family car. This led him to brutally shooting his parents and burying their bodies in a shallow grave behind their home. His parents were William Arnold, a 42 year old manager and his wife Opel who was about 40 years at the time of their death. Arnold and his 11 year old brother even stayed in the home alone since that time.

Glen Ridge Rape Case vs Steubenville Rape Case Victim The victims in both cases are different but have a few similarities in the cases. In the Glen Ridge Rape Case a woman with an intellectual disability was assaulted. This woman who was identified as M.G., was lured into the basement by a group of male athletes that went to the same high school as her. She was known in the community for her disability making her easy to manipulate and there were a few instances where people did take advantage of her disability and convinced her to do things that were wrong and sometimes inappropriate (“The Glen Ridge Rape”,2003).

The horrifying incident happened around 9:16 pm, when she took and unfamiliar route home, after dropping a friend home near a copse of aspen, where the incident took place. Watching the “Rape at McDonalds” video was very disturbing. It was shocking to see how all the participants, except for the maintenance man, complied with the bizarre demands of the supposed police, especially Donna Jean Summers. As a manager, she should have known the policies of the company, as a reasonable person, she should had handled the situation in a different way. However, there are some psychological explanations for her behaviors. The law says that we must obey the authority; she believed that she was doing the right thing by following the others given by “the cop” even if the commands were very odd.

A CASE OF WARTIME RAPE AND MURDER This paper will be concerned with a crime involving U.S. Army soldiers, which took place on March 12, 2006 in the midst of the war in Iraq. Five soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division (Steven Green, Jesse Spielman, James Barker, Paul Cortez, and Bryan Howard) entered a home in the town of Mahmudiya, where they took turns raping a 14-year old girl while holding her parents and younger sister at gunpoint in a different room. Following the rape, they shot and killed the girl along with her family members. They then poured kerosene over the girl’s body and set in on fire in an attempt to conceal the evidence (Von Zielbauer, 2006).
In a world where we all, as human beings, have to compete to obtain success, the act of sexaully assaulting a person who is pursuing the idea to thrive is a problem that needs to be faced. According to RAINN Statistics, 11.2% of all college students experience sexual assault or rape. In 2016 20.5 million students were expected to attend college, that just including the United States (NCES) and it is estimated that more women attend college than men (Forbes), it is truly terrifying to think that upon every 1,000 women students 35 of them are victims of assault (NSVRC).
