Street art is a legal way for artists to express concepts, using the world as their canvas. The first passage, “Putting a Good Face on Street Art, to Upgrade Atlanta”, talks about the positive impacts of street art using the city of Atlanta as an example of the influence murals have. It has benefited the city morally, financially, and economically by using the Living Walls project that turned its urbanism into a canvas for artists. The second text, “Mongolia's Hunt for Female Street Artist”, goes into detail about Odno Bold being commissioned to draw the 17 Sustainable Goals with her partner Michid Enkhbat. Brown begins with the Living Walls project which is taking place in Atlanta, where 28 artists have their place to create whatever they could imagine. In addition, Brown also presents details on how the project has given the surrounding community a better even helping them economically as more people may want to move into the area due to the street art. He goes as far as to show how the new murals have changed the viewpoints of people opposing street art not seeing it as any different from graffiti which is its illegal counterpart. In the text, we are introduced to Rodney Bowman which had a negative view of the art but is then changed after experiencing the beauty of it saying, “Graffiti is just some scrawl,” he said. “But this is beautiful. This is art.” (Brown). The concept of modern street art changing the perspective of someone who once hated it is a strong example of the positive effects it has. Including Rodney Bowman presented a contradicting argument that was disputed to reinforce the main idea being conveyed in the article.
