I recently have read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and am very excited to converse my feelings about this book. The genre of The Catcher in the Rye is a realistic fiction book, a very popular type of book. This book takes place in Pencey and New York. The main characters are Holden Caulfield, Phoebe Caulfield, D.B Caulfield, Allie Caulfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Caulfield. I think J.D Salinger choose the title because it was the only profession Holden wanted. It was his dream to become the catcher in the rye. I think the title is effective because it tells you what the main character wants to become and it may not make sense at first, but it will later on. I think a more fitting title would be A Wandering soul. A Wandering Soul would be a better name because Holden doesn’t know what he wants to do until the end of the book. Overall the title The Catcher in the Rye is a fitting title, but A Wandering Soul would be even more fitting.

One difference between Holden and me is Holden smokes and I don’t. Another similarity between Holden and me is we both excel at ELA. An additional difference between Holden and I is he is failing in 4 subjects while I am not. One last difference is that Holden drinks and I definitely don’t. Once again Holden and I are very different and pretty
