The inner coffin of Meret-it-es originates from middle Egypt in the year 350 B.C. It is located with the rest of its collection at the Nelson- Atkins Museum of Art. The inner coffin is meant to be placed inside the actual coffin. The inner coffin is seven feet high and is the first thing that will catch the viewer’s eyes when they walk into the exhibit. The artist uses the elements of line, color, shape, texture, and space. The artist does this by using the element of color. On the head of the inner coffin they use gold and blue on the head to make it seem as if the coffin is wearing a headdress.
