In the novel The Catcher in The Rye, there are many interesting characters, including the protagonist Holden Caulfield and the relatively minor character Stradlater. Their vary from one another in their attitudes towards academics, relationships, and in their sanity While it is may be said that Stradlater and Holden behave similarly regarding academics, they do differ ever so slightly. Holden for one has a deplorable work ethic as he openly states on pg. 13 “That his only interests in school were in English and one semester of History.” He also it may be said, cares very little about his grades, and has failed to meet the mark in many of his previous schools.

The movie Carved in Silence was a very provoking and eye opening documentary for me. It depicted the experience of the Chinese immigrants of Angel Island very well through the narration and the dramatic recreation. As an immigrant, the opening scene and the many stories told evoked many memories and reflections of my family 's journey and aspirations. The stories and descriptions in this documentary were very surreal because they were too hard to believe.

The Greek culture and Greek gods and goddesses has always been on my interest list. I find the study of Greek gods to be extremely intriguing and an interesting way to follow a specific practice of religion. I know a little information about Greek gods and who the main gods are, so having the opportunity to learn more about them is the extra push I needed to pick the topic of Greek gods and goddesses. I have also watched the Percy Jackson movies and read the books, which provided me with more insight on Greek gods even though Percy Jackson is a fictional read. Knowing all this information and interest in Greek gods lead me to the question, “How does Greek Gods get started and how does it influence the world today?”
