What Work Is-Phillip Levine I chose this poem because it must hold quite a bit of significance if the book was named after it. The part of this poem that I would like to focus on is the last ten lines. The tone of this part in the poem seems to be full of guilt and/or regret. The speaker in the poem seems to regret and feel guilt over not spending time with and showing love to his brother. In this small part of the poem, he seems to use a lot of negative words, like never, not, incapable, don’t. These words seem to add emphasis on the guilt and regret surrounding this ending.
