The song "Candles in the sun" by Miguel addresses many problems within society. The hook of the song repeats a phrase "Diamond in the back" as a symbolic representation the Cadillac 's design in 1970. The next lines "Babies on crack, kick in the door, waving the four-four" symbolize a smash and grab type of robbery that happens in the lower income sections of cities at drug houses. The baby "being on crack" metaphorically means the infant was introduced to the chemical compound because of the mother’s history of drug abuse.
Ribay uses the first person point of view to give the reader a better perspective on their relationship. The reader is able to read Jay’s emotions towards his father because it is told from his eyes. Jun’s relationship with his father contrasts gigantically from Jay’s. Instead of being non judgmental like Jay’s dad, Jun’s dad prefers to bring him down emotionally. On page 18, Jun writes “I told Tatay at dinner, and he said it was stupid” (Ribay).

In Flannery O’Connor’s short story “Good Country People” the protangonist, Joy, had mutual characteristics with each of the characters. Her and Mrs. Hopewell were both naïve to Manely Pointer’s true personality. Joy and Mrs. Freeman were both very serious people. Last her and Manely Pointer are both illusive, but for different reasons. Joy, or Hulga’s, point of view is third person limited, the reader can see what Joy is thinking and feeling, but only at certain points in the story.

Throughout the lyrics and music video for this song it gives the listener a harsh reality check on how hard some people have it in life and the tough decisions people are forced to make in tough times.
The story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong by Tim O’Brien is about the decline of human innocence. Throughout our lives we face many changes whether it be by choice or by the environment we are surrounded in. Although change can be good it can also decrease the morale of those around you. Mary Anne is the face of such a change that will make brave men cower in fear; her change signifies a falling of the most beautiful of angels, the epitome of light but who has been seduced by the hatred and darkness.
“Dear Mama” by Tupac is a tribute song to Tupac’s mother. The song depicts Tupac’s love for his mother and his gratitude for her work and mother ship throughout his childhood. She raised him from poverty, crack addiction, and many other circumstances brought on by the world that formed Tupac Shakur and Dear Mama. The reason I love this song because Tupac addressed his mother with brutal honesty, forgiving her for abandoning him and thanking her for raising him. “Even though you was a crack fiend, mama/ You always was a black queen, mama, “he rapped.
Three of the most important aspects of any story are the point of view, characterization and plot. In the short stories “Geraldine Moore the Poet,” “The Story-Teller,” and “Enemy Territory” this statement proves to be true. With a good analysis, all of these things can be found in the stories. Additionally, the point of view, characterization and plot can relate to the theme. The point of view needs to be scrutinized throughout the whole story.
The song Dear Mama by Tupac Shakur relates to the ongoing struggle and hardships that numerous lower class single mothers endure, where Shakur describes how he learned to appreciate his mother and the sacrifices that she made for him as he became older. By formatting the lyrics with verses around a repeating chorus, Shakur was able to emphasize his personal narrative within the verses and allow for a recollection period between each verse to allow listeners to reflect on and comprehend what they just experienced. The form of Dear Mama is consistently strophic, where at the end of each verse Shakur repeats the emblematic phrase, “There's no way I can pay you back, but the plan is to show you that I understand, you are appreciated.” Appealingly,
Hip-hop is an influential form of music that displays an artist’s honest and revealing story that many of the general public can relate to. One of the many songs that I can relate to is “Love Yourz” written by J Cole. The song talks about how Cole reflects on the most important things in life such as love and happiness. He realizes that the money and fame didn’t bring him the happiness he desired. To gain true happiness, he needed to appreciate himself and those that love him.
Angela Carter, the author of the collection of short stories The Bloody Chamber was an English novelist, journalist and short story writer. The Bloody Chamber, published in 1979, is one of Carter’s most popular short story collections (Carter 1). The collection consists of ten stories including "The Bloody Chamber". All stories are rewritings of fairy tales and folktales. This paper will firstly offer a narratological analysis of the short story “The Bloody Chamber” while in the second part the short story will be analysed from a feminist perspective.
