Lincoln 's purpose in this excerpt was to convey the message that the country was not ready to take on the issue of slavery. At the time of this speech Lincoln was comparing slavery to trying to ride a young horse. If the country were to jump on the issue of slavery, while public opinion was still unsure it would divide the country, like a rider that is most likely to fall of an unbroken horse. Lincoln also was cautious in that he wanted to look into the topic of slavery more, but at some point, the country would have to face the issue, and try to come up with a compromise on slavery, and the issues that surround it. Otherwise the country would be divided and that is not what Lincoln desired.

The effect it would have on my mental health would be significant. It would be nearly unquestionable that I would not be fed a proper diet to maintain a healthy life and also not being able to actually exercise because there may not be enough room or I might not have enough energy to do so. However, I would ask for small excercise objects such as a jump rope, a bouncy ball or weights to try to regain as much muscle as I could and keep myself busy. By the end of my time, I would be completely malnourished and lost quite a bit of weight. I would struggle to regain any energy, let alone get up and walk, eat, or talk.
In Animal Farm, George Orwell warns how power will often lead to corruption. Napoleon was placed in a position of power after Major died, and he slowly starts to lavish in his power and become addicted to the lush life of a dictator. When Napoleon first becomes a leader, he expresses how everyone will work equally, but as his reign goes on, he shortens the work hours. At the very end of the novel, the observing animals even start to see that pig and man had become the same. The irony present in the above example, illuminates how regardless of how much a ruler promises to maintain equality and fairness, the position of power that they hold, will corrupt them.
The Gods of War, Ares and Athena, both share the same father in Zeus. Although they are both Gods of War their perception through Greek Mythology is vastly different. Ares is portrayed as brutal and strong whereas Athena is portrayed as wily and cunning. In ancient Greek culture, Women were second-class citizens to the men and this is translated to the Gods. No better way to see this is than between Ares and Athena, where the conquering, strong God of war, battle lust, courage and civil order is compared to the Goddess of war wisdom, good counsel, weaving, pottery and various other crafts.
Predicting Future Serial Murderer Behaviors Trevor Skinner East Carolina University Introduction Serial killing, serial murder, serial homicide, there are many names that can be thrown around for the act of killing multiple victims. While many know the names not as many know the actual definition of serial killing, or serial murder. There has been much difficulty with having a universal way to define serial killing, while it has been attempted, researchers and members of law enforcement have not been able to come up with one widely used and accepted definition for serial killing (Samuel Adjorlolo, 2014).
Throughout the stories told in both Mohawk Saint and The Unredeemed Captive, the unintended consequences of converting the American Indians to Christianity and trying to bring a Protestant back from American Indian Catholicism were powerful players in the unfolding events. In both of these stories, the unintended consequences of the encounters between the Christian religious and American Indian converts inspired the redefinition of the previously held definitions of who could be saintly and open to salvation. In the case of Mohawk Saint, this occurred when the Jesuits priests eventually began to tell the story of a possible saint, Catherine, although she was a Mohawk woman. In The Unredeemed Captive, the Williams family had to deal with the unintended consequences of their attempts to bring Eunice
Thesis Statement: Dictators Create decisions for what can be said and done. The animals in the novel Animal Farm had created a set of commandments that all the animals had to follow, then one day the group Napoleon and the other pigs broke the fourth commandment by sleeping in beds, the Animals on the farm read the commandment and it decreed “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets” (Orwell 67). The quote supports the thesis for the reason that Napoleon has changed the rules so that he is not breaking them, so that the other animals will not be tempted to confiscate Napoleon's power. The statement supports the quote because Napoleon decision to change the fourth commandment. Napoleon changes the fourth commandment without the vote of the other animals which leaves the animals no choice but to go along with the change for the reason that the animals have been brain washed.
Human Selfishness Shown Through George Orwell’s Novel, Animal Farm There is no way to hide the selfishness trait in humans, no matter how many charities they donate to, how many children they help, there will always be that selfishness in them. Although no one will ever admit it, humans since before we know it, have always been like this, and will never change this feature for the time to come. George Orwell, an english novelist, who realized this at an early time, did a very efficient job at showing this to the rest of the world through his novel Animal Farm. In the novel, George Orwell uses theme and allegory to share his views on society by displaying that the aim for equality in society is unachievable because people are inherently selfish
