In the book called The Odyssey by Homer, it mainly follows the story of a king of a village called Ithaca, hundreds of years ago-This man, is named Odysseus. Odysseus goes through many adventures after the victory of the Trojan War. However, this is where Odysseus, is not being as strong as a great war hero and a king as he should be. Although Odysseus was seen as a very strong person, physically and mentally, he lacks the appreciation and the care of his crew throughout the trials and didn’t think through many of his actions thoroughly and how they would affect not only his crew but people around him.

Homer’s The Odyssey has many interpretations, each conveying many messages that the reader can take from the story. Several are traits that the epic hero, Odysseus, has, which help him complete his journey. However, there are also many recurring similarities between each trial that Odysseus faces.
Odyssey Argumentative Essay Odysseus is an arrogant egotistical warrior who hardly ever takes the blame for his own actions. Since he does not take responsibility it shows his weaknesses that could be used against him if this were a war. Odysseus’s weaknesses are shown equally in the literature and the movie. When Odysseus is finished with his storytelling, “no one stirred or sighed in the shadowy hall, spellbound as they all were” (13.1-2), as his account of his story moved all to silence. Homer’s understanding of Odysseus is spotlighted, as the four chapters are told through Odysseus’s narration of events and the hero is put into the mindset of the speaker. He finishes by telling the court, “Those adventures made a long evening, and I do not hold with tiresome repetition of a story” (12.578-580), suggesting that, instead of simply conveying a story without thought, Homer told his stories with investment, understanding, and emotion the way Odysseus does.
