(The Critique of the Tomorrow Soliloquy)
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none”(Shakespeare). In the 1600’s William Shakespeare writes a play called Macbeth, which is still performed in theaters today. The story is about a man who starts the story off as being a hero and saving the country of Scotland. Macbeth is later told by three witches prophecies of his life. The First witch grants him as a soldier, the second as a thane of Cawdor, and the third as thane of the king. Macbeth goes to serious of lengths to fulfill these three prophecies which leads to many important scenes in the story such as the death of Lady Macbeth at the end of-of act 5 scene 5 of Macbeth. The words that Macbeth states are very important, in which Shakespeare portrays very important messages such as the question if the life we live is scripted, the world we live in is boring, and every day we live it's the last day for someone else.
Shakespeare makes us question if our life is scripted with the lines that Macbeth states in Act 5 scene 5 of Macbeth. After Macbeth finds out that the queen is dead he begins to question if it's all scripted, if all of this was planned. He also wonders if he followed the correct path for his life, then he wonders who scripted his life. Charlotte Eriksson, a writer from Sweden states,“Do you wait for things to happen, or do you make them happen yourself? After Macbeth finds out about Lady Macbeth's death he begins to think more about life, because he is sad and this is shocking news to him. In Tomorrow's Squlicy he states. “Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day”(Line 10-20). Macbeth is saying that life is boring and today was like yesterday and will be the same tomorrow. We live life going through the same routine so it tends to be boring. We put so much time into our lives to just die in the end. None of the stuff we do in life actually matters. He compares our lives to candles and it's going to burn out eventually. We don't know how much time we have left and we could burn out at any time. Jasmin Morin an English poet states “Enjoy life while you can. It can be taken in a heartbeat.” This quote is similar to when Macbeth compared our lives to candles and saying that they can be blown out at any time. We never know when we might die, and we live our lives going through a routine that it seems boring and not purposeful. Emily Morin is stating that we need to enjoy our lives because we never know when our candle is going to be burnt
