Pastor, thank you for allowing me to address your concerns. Personally, I disagree with Adams quote. I do not think that psychology is sinful human being thinking sinfully about other sinful human beings. Various studies have indicated that participating in psychotherapy is better than having no psychotherapy at all for individuals with different problems. The effect of psychology has proved to be significant. Additionally, the knowledge of God and the knowledge of Human beings constitute true wisdom (Entwistle, 2010).
Christians such as Adam’s who oppose psychology do so because they think it is not effective. I think we should not reject psychology but rather consider the domain in which psychology is effective and valid. Family therapies have proved to have positive effect compared to lack of any treatment. Behavior modification is also effective and it has proved to be a treatment to problems such as developmental disabilities and childhood autism. Being effective and valid makes psychology not to be sinful. To cope with psychology and consider it as not being sinful, I think we need to accept the aspects of psychology that are harmonious with theology or biblical truth and reject the aspects that are not.

Both deal with the revelation of God to humankind. Theology investigates the general revelation of God while psychology studies the supernatural revelation of God. A worldview integrating both psychology and theology gives a full picture of reality. A reason supporting the integration is that Christian need to expect getting the truth about God by investigating special and general revelations both inside the church and outside the church.
