Contributions of the Ancient Romans Although the Ancient Romans adopted they ways of the Greeks, they have had many contributions. The Roman Empire is known to be one of the greatest empires that existed in the western part of the eastern hemisphere. While ruling and expanding their empire, the Romans done so many things that have shaped the world today.Here are some of the contributions of the ancient Romans.
In 70 A.D., the historical Colosseum was built. After the decision to start building was decided by Roman emperor Vespasian, the colosseum became a theater that was used for entertainment for the ancient Romans. As the empire expanded, the ancient Romans were not tolerant of foreigner’s religions. Around 27 A.D. a man by the name of Jesus claimed to be the son of the god in the Jewish religion. Jesus began to teach others the love of god and the importance of the mutual relationship. As an effect, Jesus was accused of defying authority and became executed. After his death, Christians, the followers of Jesus Christ, began to have conflicts with the Romans. Christians were being killed, and arrested due to fact that they would not worship Roman gods. The conflict was not resolved until Emperor Constantine announced an end to the persecution of Christians in 312. As Christianity began to spread throughout the empire, the emperor Theodosius declared Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire in 380. After the Romans adopted the religion of Christianity, they began building churches with the structures of having the roles of bishops and the leader of the church, as known as the pope. These rights could not be taken away under any circumstances. These laws were made to prevent unfair treatment. The law declared that everyone has the right to equal treatment, Persons are declared innocent until proven guilty and the burden of proof rest on the accuser. In addition, a person should only be punished on action and unfair laws could be set aside. Unfortunately, these laws did not apply to foreigners and the people of conquered territories. Foreigners were punished harder than citizens were. Although these laws were made years ago, some of these rights are present in other countries also given as birth given rights.

At one point of time, the ancient Romans had the problem of water supply as the Roman Empire increased. Around 312, the first aqueduct in Rome was recorded. The Aqueducts were built through concrete channels in Rome. They invented aqueducts to bring transport from the Tiber River into the empire.
