Agatha Christie was a very successful crime novelist and playwright. She sold millions of copies of her novels like Sad Cypress, Murder at the Vicarage, and Partners in Crime. She also wrote the book we have to read this summer, And Then There Were None. She is known as one of the greatest writers ever and her legacy and novels are still known very well today. Agatha Christie was born on September 15, 1890 in Torquay, England. Her father died in Agatha’s early years so her mother, Clara Boehmer, sent her away live with her aunt Margaret Miller in West Sussex. She lived most of her childhood in either her house in West Sussex or with her mom in Torquay. She had three older brothers. Agatha was homeschooled by her mom where she learned how to read, write, and play the piano. At about age 11, Agatha was sent to Miss Guyer's Girls School, but soon left because she could not adjust to the environment of the school. She remarried in 1930 to archaeologist Sir Max Mallowan, after meeting him at an archaeological dig. Her later trips him were settings of many of her later novels including Come, Tell Me How You Live and Murder at the Vicarage. Other books like And Then There Were None, were based on her homeland Torquay. In 1941 she wrote the book N or M?. It was not a very successful novel but it was investigated by British intelligence agency MI5. They thought that one of the characters in the book was a real spy who was trying to infiltrate Britain's top-secret codebreaking centre, Bletchley Park. The investigation soon ended after Agatha told famous codebreaker Dilly Knox, that it was just one of her least favorite characters. She died on January 12, 1976 at the age of 85. She was buried in a newby churchyard of St. Mary’s Cholsey. Her legacy and novels still live on today and she is still known as one the greatest authors of all
