“At this there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws.” pg. 52
This quote is important because it is the beginning of the climax. It shows the point at which Napoleon takes control of the farm and ruins the equality of all animals. He uses his dogs to scare of Snowball and to stay in power. Furthermore, he destroys the democracy of the farm by removing the Sunday meetings.

“No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong

He says that he wishes the other animals could make decisions, but they are not as smart as he is so it would be most effective to let him decide everything. However, his true intentions are to make rules which benefit himself.
Important Quote 3:
“If a window was broken or a drain was blocked up, someone was certain to say that Snowball had come in the night and done it, and when the key of the store-shed was lost, the whole farm was convinced that Snowball had thrown it down the well. Curiously enough, they went on believing this even after the mislaid key was found under a sack of meal.” pg. 78
This quote is important because it shows how Napoleon easily changed the opinion of the animals about Snowball with a few simple lies. He wanted to stay in power so he turned the animals against those who were a potential threat. Snowball than became at fault for every problem that arose on animal farm. The animals were completely brainwashed so that they blamed Snowball for problems even when they had a candid reason to believe he was not the culprit.
