“Annabel Lee”, written by the one and only, Edgar Allan Poe. Published in the year of 1849, “Annabel Lee” is known as Poe’s last completed poem. The poem takes you through a riveting love story between the narrator and his lover, Annabel Lee. But this alluring love story comes to an abrupt stop when Annabel Lee dies unexpectedly. This poem gives off many themes, but I think the most noticed theme in this poem is that love is eternal. I chose this poem because when I was in seventh grade we started learning how to annotate properly. Our first poem we had to annotate was “Annabel Lee”. As I was reading the poem I instantly fell in love with the poem because it really made me feel like I was right in that kingdom by the sea with Annabel Lee.
