Novels provide readers with insight on many important lessons in life. However, nonfiction literature tends to provide the reader with a greater awareness. There were various significant lessons represented in the true-life novel: Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. The protagonist, Anne Frank kept a personal diary to record her feelings and experiences. She shares her funny, happy, sad, and frustrating stories about her life. There were a lot of surprising pieces of information that Anne Frank wrote about in her diary. Throughout the diary, Anne maintained a sense of humor, remained positive, and was selfless. Anne makes the readers mindful on her stressful daily life as a teen in hiding. Her life was full of tension and worry. Nevertheless, Anne maintained her sense of humor despite all of her issues. She approached life in a comical way and made other people laugh. She found hilarity in trivial everyday matters. For example, she described the commotion that happened to a fellow resident of the Secret Annexe named Mrs. Van Daan. Mrs. Van Daan was having dental work done as chaos erupted. The readers get a good understanding on Anne’s disposition by the way she deals her daily life struggles. Her strength and character put to the test as she handles a rough life away from home. She experiences times of sadness and despair. Anne believes that she needs to remain optimistic despite what is happening in her environment.
